Wearable Safety Product Design for Urban Users as a Second Skin

 Since the population density is very high in Seoul, there are many intersections and alleys.
Therefore, the car accident rate at night is higher than other countries. Commuters, cyclists, children and elders are especially vulnerable for traffic accidents at night. “Wearable Safety
Product Design for Urban Users as a Second Skin” solves this social issue with new technology. SALUX and DBA can be like a second skin which help users to attach to their body easily and make themselves bright and show parts of their body are extended. Animals self-defense mechanism is a methodology for form finding. SALUX is a 3d
printed wearable jewelry that contains a microprocessor and a sensor that responds to the level of ambient light. DBA stands for digital body augmentation. It uses augmented reality to suggest safety fashion of the future.

인구 밀집지역인 서울은 교차로와 골목들이 많다 보니 야간 교통사고율이 빈번하다. 야간 보행자, 자전거 사용자,어린이들 노인들은 안전에 취약하다. 이에 새로운 기술을 이용해 야간 교통 안전사고 예방을 위한 웨어러블 컨셉 제품을 연구하였다. SALUX와 DBA는 마치 자신의 제2의 몸처럼 간편하고 쉽게 착용 또는 부착하여 자신의몸의 일부에 빛을 내거나 확장시킬수 있다. 이를 통해 야간 운전시 시야확보가 어려운 운전자들이 보행자들을 인지하기 용이하게 한다. 동물들의 자기방어 매커니즘에서 영감을 받아 형태와 구조를 디자인 하였다. SALUX는 아두이노와 광센서를 활용하여 주변 조도에 따라 빛을 내는 3D프린트 웨어러블 주얼리이다. DBA는 증강현실(AR)기술을 이용한 미래형 패션 악세사리이다.



도시 사람들을 위한 제2의 스킨으로써 안전 웨어러블 제품 디자인 연구 

The field of thesis is wearable technology based on imagination of the near future. The aims of thesis are that analyze of a relationship between human body and new technology and find a future business model with new methodology. Topic of thesis can be divided into two categories. Firstly, A Next Generation of a Virtual Reality (or VR) product. Secondly, Safety Wearable Items for Urban User by using E-textiles. Both of topics can be driven by theory of product language and conceptualized a new business model. It is also important that try to diverse possibility to find a new form in a variety of media and disciplines.
